Communal Area Cleaning in the City of London

Hackney's communal blocks come in two very different flavours, and a good cleaning rota has to handle both. The first is the Victorian conversion — original tile entrance steps, timber stair-runs, plaster cornicing and a shared cellar or bin yard at the rear. The second is the new-build, glass-and-steel block that has appeared in every part of the borough over the last fifteen years — London Fields, Hackney Wick, Stoke Newington, Dalston Junction — with large glazed lobbies, lifts and basement bin-stores.

Our Hackney team carries two product sets in the van for exactly this reason. On Victorian buildings we use pH-neutral floor cleaner safe on original tile and timber, soft microfibre on plaster and timber detail, and never-pressurised water on heritage stair-runs. On new-builds we use glass-specific cleaner for lobby glazing, brushed-steel polish for lift interiors, and pressure-washing for basement bin-stores where ventilation allows.

Every visit is logged with timestamped photos accessible to freeholders, RMCs and managing agents — useful evidence for service-charge accountability and for resolving complaints quickly. We work to rotations you set: typically weekly for lobbies and stairs, fortnightly for bin-store deep cleans, monthly for high-level detail like light fittings and door-tops.

Pricing is £30/hr with a £60 minimum call-out, fully insured (£5m public liability), no long-term tie-in. Consumables (hand sanitiser, bin liners, hallway air-freshener) are supplied at cost and invoiced through the service charge, or we can work with your existing supplier.
